Interpret the main development trend of UV ink from four aspects

trend 1: more environmental protection

environmental issues are the main driving force of ink innovation. As an environmental protection station pointed out: the printing industry should consciously improve its environmental performance, because printing, like most industrial production processes, requires a lot of harmful chemicals and energy, and produces a lot of waste. If these factors accumulate, they will have a serious impact on air, water and land. In addition, the printing plant is also subject to various regulations issued by the state and local governments

although the substrate has become the primary goal of environmentalists (because the papermaking process consumes a lot of energy and trees), printing ink has attracted widespread attention of printing plants who want to seek sustainable development

the statistical data of the National Association of printing ink manufacturers (NAPIM) shows that the profit margin of the ink manufacturing industry in 2006 was only 1.9%, so the industry needs to strengthen the control of supply chain and cost through various ways. The rapid rise in the price of ink raw materials caused by product shortages has forced many ink suppliers to abandon the production of traditional ink and turn their attention to other profitable markets

the market of ink raw materials has embarked on the road of globalization. Ink manufacturers can choose products suitable for themselves all over the world. Enterprises want to make great progress. The growth rate of energy curing ink has become the fastest growing indicator in the ink manufacturing industry. Although the fixed cost of installing UV light sources has decreased compared with the past, they still require a lot of investment from printing plants. Although many new printing machines are ready to use UV or mixed ink, operators still need to reset the ink roller of the printing machine

the cost of energy curing inks is about 2 to 3 times that of traditional inks, and they also need to be treated differently due to the safety of some raw materials. If a printing factory only considers the price of each pound of ink, it will not choose UV and mixed ink. However, from the perspective of total printing cost, the development prospect of energy curing ink is still very optimistic

although UV ink is suitable for all printing machines, it is the most important for large format digital printing. According to statistics, at least 25% of commercial printing plants are using digital printing machines for production. In most cases, these printing houses mainly use digital printing machines to print short edition, variable data printing live parts, pamphlets or direct mail and other commercial printed materials

nevertheless, many printing houses are still using large format or super large format printing machines to expand their customer base. These devices can be used to produce signs, banners, exhibitions and point of sale images. In addition, UV ink can not only print directly on the surface of hard and non porous substrate (such as foam board, Coroplast, Sintra, glass and wood, etc.), but also has stronger moisture resistance and sun resistance than other inks

trend 3: quality factor

printing customers always want to get high-quality prints that meet the specifications. For example, they want to use highlights to enhance the texture of images of valuables such as cars and jewelry. In addition, they also want to use ink to make their prints stand out among many similar products

at the same time, printing plants hope to simplify their workflow through ink. These inks must be stable in high-speed printing - so as to reduce the number of adjustments of the printing machine and improve the consistency of printing. In addition, printing plants also hope that the ink they use has the characteristics of easy cleaning and the ability to shorten the preparation time of operations

no matter which process is adopted, the printing factory hopes to print the most products with the least ink. Obviously, this is a contradictory requirement. Printing plants should not only maintain the impact and saturation of printing colors, but also reduce the use of ink. The best solution is to increase the strength of the pigment, and many ink manufacturers have agreed to the customer's request. But this will undoubtedly increase the production costs of ink manufacturers. In addition, too much pigment will affect the fluidity of the ink, thereby hindering its performance on the printing press. Every printing factory clearly knows that if the performance of ink is not as good as expected, the whole printing process will be affected by downtime, waste and rework

trend 4: expansion of color gamut

as we all know, the traditional printing process using yellow magenta black four primary color ink will encounter difficulties in reproducing full-color images. The recent progress in prepress and ink manufacturing has brought printing plants the ability to expand the printing color gamut. In addition to the standard four primary color inks, printers can now use light green, red and blue inks in color printing. Therefore, while the prepress system can divide the image into seven colors, the increased primary color must also bring higher saturation, purity and consistency to the printed image, so as to ensure the success of printing production
